British designer, John Galliano, introduced the Chelsea Flower Present (nicely, the Couture model) to Paris yesterday as Haute Couture autumn/winter 2010 started in a sometimes exuberant model at Christian Dior. Final season, Galliano embellished his runway with hundreds of recent roses, so this season he surpassed himself with a super-sized backyard theme. The sweetness look was a corresponding explosion of color: towering tulip-shaped sculpted hair by Orlando Pita, wrapped in cones of vibrant cellophane created by milliner Stephen Jones. While, Pat McGrath was feeling equally experimental along with her selection of palette as she went for Xanadu-esque colour-blocking on the eyes with deeply stained lips. If the fashions have been the personification of backyard wildlife, then that is flower arranging of the very best order.
